Our Year-Round Workshops are exciting opportunities to learn more about the OUAWP and to meet other committed teachers in Appalachian Ohio. They are open to any teacher in the ten counties we serve (Athens, Gallia, Hocking, Jackson, Meigs, Morgan, Perry, Lawrence,Vinton, and Washington) and beyond.
We gladly accept all types of teachers from all different schools to our workshops. Note that you do not have to participate in the Summer Institute to join us for these year-round activities.

The ODE reports approximately 41% of all public high school students entering a public college or university in the state are currently taking at least one remedial course in English. Our goal in holding this forum is to bring local area high school English teachers to meet with college level English faculty for discussions on college readiness and sharing of best practices. Throughout our time, we hope to address the following questions in various breakout sessions and presentations by fellow teachers:
• What are the gaps in student skills that put them in need of developmental courses in college? Are there other factors to consider that cause students to get behind?
• What are the expectations in college courses, and how can we make the best application of the Common Core requirements?
• What are some of the best ways to approach our at‐risk students who are not college ready?
